This course is designed for Candidates to achieve a recognised qualification and provide knowledge, skills, and understanding to enable both the Inspection & Testing of electrical equipment and management of the maintenance process.
What You Study
The City & Guilds 2377 course studies the requirements for in-service inspection & testing of electrical equipment. It covers the requirements of legislation, which calls for qualified personnel to manage and carry out the maintenance of electrical equipment.
It is based upon the IET Code of Practice (COP) for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment, 5th Edition, including:
- Statutory & Non-Statutory documents
- Basic & fault protection used for safety in Portable Appliances
- Classification and types of electrical equipment
- Range of inspections and tests required.
- Correct and safe use of Portable Appliance Tester
- Interpret test results

The course is delivered over 2 days, with an additional 1 Hour 45 Minute online assessment undertaken a few days after course delivery.

Course numbers are set to a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 8 candidates, although bespoke arrangements can be negotiated. Receipt of payment will confirm booking and should be paid 14 days prior to commencing course.
Entry Requirements
This course is suitable for Electricians and Electrical Engineers, or those already undertaking maintenance duties with Electrical knowledge. Managers/supervisors overseeing maintenance requirements are also suitable for this course.
